| Obion Central continued its winning ways in prep soccer with a 4-1 victory over Trenton Monday night. The Rebels improved to 7-2-1 in 10 games and will begin pool play in the Best of the West Tournament in Jackson today In other matches Monday involving local entries, South Fulton lost 4-0 to McKenzie, while the Union City Middle School team lost a heartbreaker to Medina in a 2-1 shootout. A recap of the day’s action follows. OC 4, Trenton 1 Eric Torres continued to find the net consistently, scoring Central’s first and last goals. Alex Terrell followed Torres’ first goal with another to help the Rebs to a 2-1 halftime lead. David Reyna scored three minutes into the second half off a corner kick before Torres sealed the triumph with a pretty goal. Samuel Smith had three saves in goal for Obion Central. McKenzie 4, SF 0 The Red Devils were shut out for the third straight match and fell to 2-7-2. It was 1-0 at the intermission. SF plays at Ripley today. Medina 3 (2), UCMS 3 (1) Union City lost in a shootout competition after regulation ended in a deadlock. Tied 3-3 after regulation play and the 10-minute Golden goal overtime period, the two teams went to a shootout finale. UC’s only goal in that extra session came from Alexis Vasquez. Vasquez scored one of the Golden Tornadoes’ three goals in regulation, all coming in the second half. Cace Cook and Kip Tilghman also scored for Union City.
