Obion Central had a little trouble with Upperman. The other teams had trouble with the Lady Rebels. Central posted a 6-2 record in the Duff Tournament at Cookeville over the weekend, defeating Cumberland County twice and Cookeville, Monterey, Lebanon and Chattanooga Central once each while losing twice to the Bees. OC knocked off Cumberland 11-4 and 10-1, Cookeville 8-4, Lebanon 3-2, Monterey 9-3 and Chattanooga Central 6-2. The Lady Rebs’ two losses to Upperman came by 7-4 and 6-1 scores. Obion Central improves to 30-10 overall and will be back in action Tuesday at Covington. OC 10, Cumberland Co. 1 The Lady Rebs put the game away with eight runs in the first inning and finished with 11 hits. Rachel Jones and Alex Wilson were each 2-for-3, while Peyton Robertson, Carly Whipple, Emily Pickard, Megan Gargus, Calli Johnson, Ali Adcock and Maci McDaniel each added a hit. Wilson (1-0) tossed a three-hitter with four strikeouts. Upperman 7, OC 4 The Bees jumped out to a 5-0 lead after two innings and then held off Central’s comeback attempt in later innings. OC scored twice in the top of the third inning, but Upperman struck back with two runs in the fourth. Central added two runs in the fifth but was silenced after that. Wilson was 2-for-3 and drove in two runs, while Johnson was 2-for-2 with an RBI for the Lady Rebels. Jones and Gargus each added a hit as Central finished with six base knocks. Macy Allison (16-7) struck out one, walked one and allowed seven hits in suffering the pitching loss. OC 3, Lebanon 2 Central pushed a run across in the plate in each of the first three innings, while Lebanon scored once in the top of the third and once more in the sixth. The Lady Blue Devils (10-14) could only get four hits off Baylie Boucher, who ran her record to 9-2. The Lady Rebs banged out 12 hits, Adcock and Whipple each 2-for-3 and both Robertson and Johnson 2-for-4 with Robertson sending in a run. Pickard and Gargus each doubled and drove in a run, while Wilson and Kayla Bramlett had a hit. OC 9, Monterey 2 Central sandwiched a seven-run second inning with one run in both the first and third frames. Monterey scored twice in the fourth inning. The Lady Rebs tagged 11 hits, including six going for extra bases. Jones was 2-for-2 with a triple and two RBI, while Wilson, Whipple, Gargus, Pickard and Bramlett all doubled. Gargus had two hits and an RBI, Wilson drove in two runs, and Whipple, Pickard and Bramlett also drove in a run. Johnson and Adcock each had a hit as well. Bramlett (1-0) tossed a two-hitter, striking out four and walking one. OC 6, Chatt. Cent. 2 Obion Central led 4-1 after two innings, scoring two runs in both the first and second innings, and then added two more runs in the fifth frame. Whipple was 2-for-3 and drove in two runs, Robertson and Jones each doubled and drove in a run, and both Pickard and Bramlett had a hit and an RBI. Wilson, Johnson and Adcock each singled for OC. Allison (17-7) earned with win with a strikeout and a walk. The Lady Pounders (21-8) had six hits and committed two errors. Upperman 6, OC 1 The Lady Bees got off to a fast start again with two runs in the first inning and another run in the second. Upperman (17-7) then doubled its run total with three more in the fourth frame for a 6-0 lead before OC got on the board in the top of the fifth.
