Camps offered for children of military

Two camps are being offered for children of active military personnel. Pins and Needles Sewing Camp is for those who would like to learn how to make their own clothes or design their own fashion. The camp will be held at the University of Tennessee at Martin June 19-21. The registeration deadline is June 9. Pins and Needles Sewing Camp is open to children ages 12-18 whose parent is currently serving in the military. All branches and components are welcome. Campers will make their own clothing and accessories while learning about fabric, sewing and clothing construction. Campers will also experience activities like swimming, a campus tour and a visit to the University Center Game Room. No previous sewing experience is required. Pins and Needles Sewing Camp costs $15, which includes all meals, lodging, supplies and a T-shirt. Transportation is not provided. Outdoor Adventure Camp is for those who would like to learn about outdoor meat cookery, wildlife and forestry. The camp will be held at Pinson Mounds State Park in Pinson July 18-20. The deadline to register is July 11. Outdoor Adventure Camp costs $15, which includes all meals, lodging, supplies and a T-shirt. Transportation is not provided.
