Union City police shut down a club that allegedly had alcohol and marijuana on the premises Sunday.
Police went to the Blue Marble on East Main Street in Union City after receiving information the club was allegedly selling alcohol and had a quantity of alcohol stored on the premises. The Blue Marble does not have a liquor or beer license, according to a Union City Police Department report.
Officers reported they arrived to find an “open” sign outside the door and the music playing “very loud” inside the building. However, the door was locked. Officers said they knocked and someone eventually opened the door and allowed officers entry.
According to the report, several bottles of alcohol were found in various places and there were several bottles of beer, apparently collectors bottles, next to a cash register. In addition, police found a plastic baggy with several individually-wrapped baggies of a substance believed to be marijuana under a door in a VIP room, but there was no odor of anyone smoking.
Police advised the occupants, about 20, that they were shut down for the night. The owner, identified by police as Karloquious Jackson, was not on the premises but was called and informed of the action.
