Carter named KSDAR Good Citizen | Brandon Carter, Good Citizens Award, Kentucky Daughters of the American Revolution

Brandon Carter, a Fulton High School senior, has been named the winner of the Good Citizens Award for the First District Kentucky Daughters of the American Revolution.
Carter received his award during a ceremony at the Kentucky DAR State Conference at the Hilton Hotel in downtown Lexington. In addition to other KSDAR officers, on hand to share in his celebration were his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Brent Carter; his sister, Hallie Carter; Jacob Flournoy NSDAR regent Sallie Ferguson; and Jacob Flournoy NSDAR treasurer Elaine Allen.
Carter’s award was based on his high school transcript, letters of recommendation, a descriptive resumé and a timed essay written as he sat with his counselor and with no prior knowledge of the topic.
The illustrious descriptive resumé contained a multitude of high-level accomplishments of the talented winner. He has received the Hugh O’Brien Youth Leadership Conference Ambassador Award and has been a Kentucky Governor’s Scholar. He received the Ambassador Award at the Kentucky United National Assembly. At present, Carter holds the No. 1 academic ranking in his graduating class.
Extracurricular activities have included being a member of the Academic Team, helping to organize various service projects in Beta Club and being involved in Bilingual Buddies, where he taught basic Spanish to kindergartners through fourth-grade students. He has been a member of the annual staff, the newspaper staff, the Drama Club and the Y-Club. Currently, he is the captain of the student Relay for Life team.
Carter plans to attend Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, Ky.
