The Underage Drinking Prevention Town Hall meeting is planned for Monday at 5:30 p.m. at the Obion County Public Library at 1221 East Reelfoot Ave. in Union City.
The purpose of the meeting will be to raise awareness concerning the issue of underage drinking.
The Obion County Prevention Coalition is sponsoring the event.
Those attending will be educated about the impact of underage drinking in the community. This is a pressing public health concern that affects the health and well-being of the community’s youth, their families and the community. Underage drinking leads to a range of costly health and social problems, including traffic fatalities, suicide, physical assault and sexual assault, according to a spokesman.
There will be a panel discussion and a question and answer time.
Parents, teachers, social workers and community leaders are invited to attend the meeting to learn about underage drinking, the spokesman said.
