Westview made up for its lone loss on the boys’ courts. The Lady Chargers could not do the same.
The Charger boys won five of the six matches played for a win over Obion Central in prep tennis action Tuesday afternoon at the UT Martin tennis complex.
Westview’s girls, meanwhile, lost four of their six matches to suffer the overall defeat.
The Chargers will play at Union City this afternoon, play at the courts adjacent to the middle school beginning at 4 p.m.
Ethan Plunk took the only loss for Westview on the boys’ side with a tough 8-5 decision to Austin Riley at the No. 2 singles spot.
He answered with a win in doubles, though, teaming with Gian Garma for an 8-5 verdict over Riley and Dallas Mathis.
Those proved to be the only competitive matches of the afternoon as Westview lost just two games in the other four matches.
Connor Blanchard was on the winning end of two shutouts, beating Mason Warren at No. 3 in singles and then joining up with Harrison Capps for that same score over Warren and Klain Davis.
Banchard and Capps have now won five times in six doubles matches this season.
Capps claimed an 8-1 win over Davis in singles at No. 4, while Garma won 8-1 over Mathis at No. 1.
Westview split with the Lady Rebels in their singles matches, but Central swept the two doubles matches to the overall decision.
Carlie Vowell put away Rebecca Bloodworth 8-1 at No. 3, and Jasmine Evans earned an 8-4 win over Taylor Moore at No. 4.
