Briefly Crosstown meeting opens Turner event The Caleb Turner Classic will get started with a crosstown clash. Fulton City will play South Fulton 4 p.m. Thursday to open the second annual event, which will be played at SF’s field. The Red Devils will then play Gleason 6 p.m. in the second game. On Friday, Gleason will face Fulton City at 4 and Lake County at 6, and then South Fulton will take on Hickman County at 8. Four games are on the schedule for Saturday, beginning with SF against Fulton County at 10 a.m. Lake County and Hickman County will play at noon, HC then follows immediately against South Fulton at 2 p.m., and the Redmen will close the event against Lake County at 4. Games will be 1:45 in time or six innings. ‘Soulman’ coming to wrestling venue Union City wrestling is about to get a little touch of soul. WWE Hall of Famer Rocky “Soulman” Johnson, father of “The Rock” Dwayne Johnson, is scheduled to appear as part of the local wrestling card on April 21. Prior to that appearance, this weekend’s card will have The Fabulous Rocker taking on Naughty By Nature “Rude and The Tornado matching up against “The Golden Boy” Greg Anthony. Also set to appear Saturday night will be the tag team EMT, Ron Horn, “The Marvel” Stan Lee, Joseph Bourne and newly-crowned NWA Mid-South Heavyweight champion “The Trendsetter” Jon Michael. This past weekend’s matches featured a world title bout and a women’s match. “The Prince of Wrestling” Jason Jones defeated Jeff Strong to keep his World League Wrestling world title. Other matches saw Rebecca Raze defeat Stacey O’Brien in a ladies match, “Rude” topple Jeremiah Plunkett, LSD defeat The Tornado and Bourne in tag team action and Drew Haskins keep his NWA Southern Heavyweight title in a win over The Fabulous Rocker.
