Obion Central moved within one victory of the 20-win mark for the season with a triumph in the Lady Trojan Invitational at Soddy Daisy over the weekend.
Unfortunately, the win was the only one for the Lady Rebels, who then dropped two games in the event to come home with a 19-6 overall record.
Union City, meanwhile, went 0-4 in the War at the Dawg Pound tourney in Milan — managing just one run in those games — to fall to 7-6 on the season.
The Tornado girls fell to Crockett County, Henry County, McKenzie and Lexington.
All three Obion County entries will resume action today following a week off from school for spring break.
Obion Central hosts Haywood at 7 p.m., UC welcomes Westview for a 5 o’clock game, and South Fulton is at home to face Halls.
It marks the beginning of a busy week for the three county teams.
All three are at home Tuesday as UC plays West Carroll, OC takes on Dyersburg and SF meets Lake County.
Central will visit Union City on Wednesday, and then all three will play Thursday with UC at Halls, OC at home against Ripley and the Devilettes hosting Trenton.
The following is a recap of the weekend’s games.
OC 3, East Hamilton 2
A three-run first was all Central needed to win its only game of the weekend.
Payton Robertson and Alex Wilson both went 2-for-3, while Megan Gargus had two hits in two at-bats for the Lady Rebels.
Carly Whipple doubled home a run, while Emily Pickard and Kayla Bramlett also had RBIs.
Macy Allison picked up her 12th pitching win, giving up both EH runs in the first, but nothing else. She allowed just four hits.
Baylor 13, OC 5
The Red Raiders broke a 4-all tie with nine runs in the top of the fifth and posted its run total despite getting just seven hits.
Wilson and Gargus had two hits each for OC, both smacking doubles, with Whipple, Pickard and Bramlett all driving home runs.
Allison suffered the pitching loss.
Will. Blount 5, OC 3
Obion Central led 3-1 before WB scored four times in the bottom of the fifth to eliminate the county locals.
Whipple chased home two runs with a pair of hits as the only OC player with more than one safety.
Allison fell to 12-6 on the season after allowing five hits and striking out one.
Crockett Co. 2, UC 0
The Lady Tornadoes did not get a hit against the Cavalier girls.
Brittany Parker struck out three and gave up just three hits in the pitching circle.
Henry Co. 3, UC 0
Two of HC’s three runs were unearned against Union City Sadie Hollis.
Hollis struck out seven and gave up just three hits.
Bettye Claire Beachum and Parker had singles for the Lady Twisters.
McKenzie 9, UC 0
Three UC errors led to six unearned runs and the Tornadoes got just one hit (Courtney Sherrill) themselves.
Parker’s pitching record dipped to 3-3.
Lexington 7, UC 1
Union City scored its only run of the weekend on Ashley Faught’s RBI.
Hollis, Parker, Beachum and Kristian Davis all had singles for the locals.
Hollis (4-3) was the losing hurler after giving up five hits and four earned runs.
