Solar conference planned

MEMPHIS (AP) — The second annual Tennessee Valley Solar Solutions Conference is Tuesday and Wednesday at the Memphis Cook Convention Center.
Adm. Dennis McGinn, a national security specialist, is to discuss his view that fossil fuels threaten the country’s national security.
Other topics include energy policy, smart grid technology, sustainability, innovation and job growth. Organizers describe the solar energy industry as a rapidly growing sector of the state’s economy, with 6,400 people employed in solar-related industries.
The conference is sponsored by the Tennessee Solar Institute and the Tennessee Valley Authority.
