Pair of UC men face kidnapping charge
Two Union City men were charged with kidnapping following an alleged incident involving one man’s cousin Saturday afternoon.
Brandon Everett Bram-lett, 26, of 5276 Rogers Marshall Road, Union City, and Steven Lynn Warner Jr., 21, of 5339 Morris Road, Union City, were arrested at 10:40 p.m. Saturday on warrants charging them with kidnapping, according to a Union City Police Department report.
The charges were levied in connection with an incident that allegedly occurred about 4 p.m. Saturday involving Allen Jones, 28, of 5276 Rogers Marshall Road, Union City.
Jones told police he was at his girlfriend’s home on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in Union City when he got a call from his cousin, Bramlett, asking him to go riding around and drink some beer. He claimed he was picked up in a black pickup truck by his cousin and a man he knew only as Steve.
Jones alleged something didn’t feel right and he asked to be let out of the vehicle, but they kept going.
He claimed Bramlett started hitting him and he had no place to go. He told police he was in fear and lunged for a window. He said he got his upper body out and claimed Bramlett was hitting him and shoved him the rest of the way out the window in the area of West Main Street and Everett Boulevard.
He told police he fell and the vehicle sped off, heading out of Union City on West Main Street.
Jones had “visible injuries,” according to the police report.
Police filed warrants on the two suspects and reported they were later picked up by sheriff’s deputies. Published in The Messenger 4.9.12
