WOH events slated Posted: Friday, April 6, 2012 12:07 pm The Messenger, April 6, 2012 The second “5K for Fannies” and “1 Mile Rump Run/Walk” Obion County Walk of Hope events are set for April 28 at 9 a.m., with registration set for 8 and the run beginning at Union City High School. “Get your rear in gear to fight colon cancer” is the theme and the first 100 entrants will receive T-shirts. Refreshments will be provided at the close of the race and free blood pressure checks and colon screening kits will be available. Trophies will be awarded to Top Masters and first through third place medals will be awarded in the age groups. The entry fee is $15 in advance by April 20 or $20 on the day of the race for 5K men and women participants. The fees are $10 in advance by April 20 or $15 on race day for the 1-mile event. Schools with three or more entries for the 5K event can abide by $12 advance fees paid by April 20 and $15 race day entries. Baptist Memorial Hospital’s “Hoops for Hope” hospital employees/physicians basketball tournament will be April 14 at Union City Middle School, with games set for 1 p.m., 3 and 5. Admission is $5. There will be refreshments, entertainment and a bike raffle, in addition to the games. Funds raised from these events will go to support Obion County Cancer Agency through Hometown Walk of Hope. The agency offers financial assistance to cancer patients in Obion County. |
