Tigers can’t put stop to Greenfield streak

Greenfield was unbeatable at Lexington.
The Lady Yellowjackets stayed perfect on the season with a 7-0 team win in girls’ tennis play against the Lady Tigers.
Greenfield is now 6-0 on the season.
It was a good day for Greenfield as nine singles matches were played and three doubles were played with the Lady ’Jackets winning them all. Greenfield plays again on April 12 against Scotts Hill at UTM.
In singles action, top seeded Lady Yellowjacket Taylor Hatcher fought hard to come back and defeat Alex Odle 9-8.
The second through fifth singles matches had much less drama.
Lady ’Jacket Kalee Kesterson won 8-1 over Lexington’s Jonna White at No. 2, and Kendal Cook held her Lady Tiger opponent Abby Elliot to only two games in an 8-2 win at the third spot. At No. 4, Greenfield’s Lauren Rush defeated Alex Tucker by an 8-3 score. Then, at No. 5, Callie Croom handily defeated Lindsey Martin of Lexington 8-1.
In 4 other singles matches played for experience, Ashton Pence beat Shelby Bowles of LHS 6-3, Kristen Lusby won her match with Lexington’s Kim Henry 6-4, Savannah Ricketts won a matchup with Brianna Coffman 6-4, and Darian Black beat Molly Franklin 6-1.
Greenfield’s top seeded doubles team of Hatcher and Rush defeated Odle and Tucker by an 8-4 margin.
In No. 2 doubles, it was Cook and Kesterson teaming up to defeat Martin and Bowles 8-1.
Then in an exhibition doubles match, Pence and Croom knocked off White and Elliot 6-2.
