Commodity foods to be distributed

The Northwest Tennessee Economic Development Council announced the U.S. Department of Agriculture commodities will be distributed to eligible area residents April 11 and 12. The foods will be distributed at NWTEDC, 231 South Wilson St. in Dresden, 8 a.m.-1 p.m.
If your last name begins with the letter A-K you will pick up on Wednesday if your last name begins with the letter L-Z, you will pick up on Thursday. Everyone is asked to please bring boxes for your commodities. Eligibility will be based on total household income not in excess of the state-established maximum percentage of the poverty line for the appropriate household size. Anyone receiving aid from one of the following programs is eligible for USDA commodities: Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) (formerly known as food stamps), Families First, SSI, low-income Home Energy Assistance Program, or residence in public housing.
