James Ellis Teal, 88, of Martin died Sunday, April 1, 2012, at Martin Health Care.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Murphy Funeral Home Chapel in Martin, with Rev. Kenneth Springer officiating. Burial will be in East Side Cemetery in Martin.
C. J. Teal, Trey Nichy, David Moore, Sammy Liles, Tommy Erwin and Dean Brooks will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Curtis Hearn, Jerry Rourke, Johnny Williamson, William Green, Don Capps and Honorary Guard of Martin Police Department.
Teal was born July 5, 1923, in Boaz, Ala., son of the late John Walter and Allie Brothers Teal. He was a World War II United State Marine. He was a retired lineman with Tennessee Valley Authority for 31 years. He was a member of Masonic Lodge in Boaz and a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Betty Rourke Teal of Martin; two sons, Don (Becky) Teal and Mike (Donna) Teal, both of Martin; one sister, Marjorie Scott of Boaz; two grandchildren, C. J. (Jessica) Teal and Susan (Trey) Nichy; two great-grandchildren, Colton James Teal and Ayden Bryce Nichy; and two step great-grandchildren, Valery Nichy and Cyndi Nichy.
