Completed arrangements are being announced for Irene Howell, 83, of Union City, who died 12:30 a.m. April 1, 2012, at Golden Living Center in Union City.
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home. Wilford Mobley will officiate.
Burial will follow in Antioch Cemetery near Hornbeak.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from noon until the hour of services Wednesday.
Pallbearers will be Nicholas Howell, Seth Howell, Dustin Howell, Kyle Garrett, Allan Carman and Joel Ellegood. Honorary pallbearer will be Nathaniel Howell.
Mrs. Howell was born Dec. 11, 1928, in Henderson County, daughter of the late Joe and Nellie (Scott) Pitts. She was a retired teacher in the Obion County School System and was a member of Bishop Street Church of Christ.
She is survived by her husband, Alfred Howell, whom she married June 3, 1950; her daughter and son-in-law, Gayle and Mark Ellegood of Union City; her son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Teresa Howell of Murfreesboro; two sisters, Nell Wallace of Tiptonville and Bonnie Hayden of Paducah, Ky.; her brother, Charles Pitts of Tiptonville; six grandchildren, Stephanie Garrett of Troy, Rebekah Carman of Union City, Nicholas Howell and Seth Howell, both of Nashville, Nathaniel Howell of Vietnam and Dustin Howell of Murfreesboro; and three great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her sister, Marie Runion; and two brothers, Richard Pitts and Clovis “Tobe” Pitts.
