1-vehicle crash claims UC man
A Union City man died Saturday morning following a one-vehicle crash on Newman Glover Road in rural Obion County.
Darryl K. Calhoun, 51, died as the result of injuries sustained in a traffic accident that occurred about 8:23 a.m. in the 4500 block of North Newman Glover Road at Langster Road near Union City, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
His death marks the ninth traffic fatality so far in 2012 in Obion County.
The THP reported Cal-houn was traveling alone northbound on Newman Glover Road when his 2002 Chevrolet drifted off the edge of the road eastbound and he apparently then overcorrected westbound. The vehicle veered off into a ditch and overturned side to side before coming to rest upright in a field, facing east.
No other vehicles were involved in the accident.
The investigating trooper reported speed was not a factor and said it was unknown if a seat belt was in use.
Funeral services for Calhoun are set for Wednesday afternoon at White-Ranson Funeral Home in Union City (see related obituary, Page 2).
