PILOT CLUB MAKES DONATION — Susie Nanney, Martin Pilot Club president, (right) presented Katherine West with a donation. West grew up in Martin and was a member of the Anchor Club. She is in her first year at the Southern College of Optometry. As a student, she joined SVOSH, Student Volunteers in Optometric Service to Humanity. Each year their goal is to travel to Central and South America to perform free exams and give out glasses and medicine to thousands of impoverished people.  Since SVOSH began at SCO in 1975, they have seen over 190,000 patients in 14 different countries. Most of the trip is covered through donations; the glasses and medicine given to the citizens are all donated.  ood and housing are provided by humanitarian clubs in the host countries. Traveling expenses, however, must be covered by each student. Each student is asked to raise $1,000.  West would appreciate any help towards her goal.  Donations can be mailed to 1245 Madison Ave., Memphis, TN 38104, with a check made out to SVOSH at SCO.
