Lightning stops 2 cars cold, doesn’t hurt drivers Posted: Friday, March 30, 2012 8:00 pm MARYVILLE (AP) — A lightning strike took out two cars on a Maryville street, but didn’t hurt either driver. The Daily Times (http://bit.ly/H6C80k) reported James Wilkerson and Leon Hinz were driving when a heavy thunderstorm hit on Thursday afternoon. Both men said their vehicles’ engines quit and would not restart. Hinz said he was sitting in his car when “everything went black.” The high school senior said the lighting and thunderclap came at the same instant. Wilkerson said he was sitting at a red light when his car was struck with a blinding flash. He said he didn’t fear for his life, once he found he was breathing and not bleeding. Both vehicles had to be towed. Information from: The Daily Times, http://www.thedailytimes.com Published in The Messenger 3.30.12 |
