The Hunter Hynds Unit of United Methodist Women met recently with 12 members present. President Chris Cheatham called the meeting to order and asked for prayer requests that could include both joys and concerns.
Kathy Forrester offered the prayer and Mrs. Cheatham led the unit in reciting The Purpose. Emily Haynes read the minutes and Sandra McTurner presented the prayer calendar.
Mrs. McTurner read from Mark 11:15-19 and lifted up the names mentioned on the calendar in prayer.
Mrs. Cheatham suggested the unit invite the Interfaith leader to visit the unit.
An Easter program was presented by Mrs. Haynes, Becky Barnes and Rosemary Coleman.
Mrs. Haynes opened the program by reading a prayer written by Fredrick W. Kemper. Dressed in costume, the participants acted the part of a Pharisee in “Justified by Need – A Biography of a Pharisee” Linda Winstead sang “Into the Woods” and “Above the Hills” to complement the theme for the evening.
Mrs. Barnes created a focal point using a decorative cross draped with a prayer cloth and a crown of thorns to enhance the program.
Mrs. Coleman and Mrs. Barnes read portions of an article by Lucille Crumley entitled “Easter Triumph.”
Mrs. Haynes ended the program by reading Jean Conder Soule’s poem, “If I Can Follow Jesus.”
Mrs. Cheatham closed the meeting using a selection offering four views of God by Norma Smith from the Response moment.
The April meeting will be a spring fling at Sassafraz restaurant on West Reelfoot Avenue in Union City.
