St. Patrick’s Day filled the air and turned everything green for a few days.
The activity room was “shamrocked” out and so were the residents and employees. Many participated in our “Going Green” day that Friday.
A special party was held, featuring fruit dream pie that was tinted green to match the day, and lime sherbert served with it.
For Saturday, the residents gathered for a special St. Patrick’s Day morning social. They enjoyed a giant chocolate chip cookie decorated with green icing clovers. Irish folk music played overhead as everyone enjoyed the fun holiday.
Last week’s Cover Card winners were Vivian Edwards, Okla Fowler, Geneva Foster, Mary Clark, Mildred Turner and Kammye Callison. Each of winners received $1 as the prize.
For Thursday’s one-line Bingo, each participant received 50 cents for playing.
We continue to have wonderful help and assist during our Bingo games for those in need.
During our evening coffee break, residents enjoyed playing dominos. They had a wonderful evening full of fun and fellowship.
For trivia and rhyme time, the residents exercised their mental muscles as they discussed things associated with St. Patrick’s Day and spring.
Last week’s sports participants were on top of their game, but two gentlemen had winning on their side. Ray Crowell was the winner of the javelin launch and the coin toss. His runner up at each event was Bobby Bynum. Bobby was the first-place finisher of the beanbag toss with Mag Yeargin in second place.
Congratulations to all our winners and to the efforts of all the participants.
The residents were treated to two wonderful and entertaining performances last week. Martha Hayes was with us that Friday evening for a terrific singing. She always does a great job and the residents love having her. On Sunday afternoon, friends of Carmen Kelley performed and did an excellent job. They lead a large group of performers and residents in gospel songs and everyone had a great time singing along. Thank you all for providing such entertaining activities for our facility.
Many local churches were so kind in providing spiritual services for our residents this week. First United Methodist Church was with us on Tuesday afternoon for their monthly service.
Siloam Baptist Church provided the Wednesday evening service.
Sunday morning services were conducted by Liberty Church of Christ and Dresden First Baptist Church. There are not enough “thank yous” that can be expressed to show our gratitude to each of you for your continued support.
Sandhill Baptist Church’s provided a donation for our country store from their mission action fund. They gave wonderful prices as well as a love offering that will be used to purchase more items for the activity. We greatly appreciate this generous donation. Thank you all.
