Several Obion County students have been awarded scholarships for the 2012-13 academic year to attend the University of Tennessee at Martin.
They include:
• Carly Coleman, daughter of Scott and Caroline Coleman of Union City, who will be a freshman. She received the Dean’s Scholarship.
• De’Andres Courtney, son of Stacey and Elizabeth Easley of South Fulton, who will be a freshman. He received the Harold Conner Scholarship.
• Macy Maxwell, daughter of Paul and Stephanie Maxwell of South Fulton, who will be a freshman. She received the UTM McWhorter Scholarship/Workship.

The University of Tennessee at Martin honor society of Phi Kappa Phi will initiate its newest members 6 p.m. April 9.
The initiation ceremony will be held in Watkins Auditorium of the Boling University Center and a banquet honoring juniors, seniors and faculty members for their academic excellence will follow at 6:30 in Duncan Ballroom.
The speaker will be Dr. Keith Carver, executive assistant to UT President Dr. Joe DiPietro.
Banquet tickets are on sale at the Information Desk of Boling University Center for $18 per person.
The honor society of Phi Kappa Phi was founded more than 100 years ago and is America’s oldest all-discipline college honor society.
It awards more than $700,000 each year to outstanding members for further academic study.
