Distribution center planned

American Tire Distributors, the nation’s leading replacement tire distributor, announced plans earlier this month to open a distribution center in Chattanooga, a project that will bring a projected $10-$20 million in investment and 40 new jobs with annual wages averaging $50,000 to the area over a period of three years.
 ATD is expected to purchase a nine-acre tract situated directly across from eSpin on Enterprise South Industrial Park’s Discovery Drive. The company has submitted its proposal to the Hamilton County Commission.
 ATD is a privately held company with 97 distribution centers in 40 states. The company serves more than 124,000 tire, wheel and automotive service retailers nationwide.
The company’s proposed Chattanooga facility will become ATD’s fifth location in Tennessee, joining Johnson City, Knoxville, Memphis and Nashville in distributing the company’s products to the Southeast region.
