Benefit planned for trooper Posted: Tuesday, March 27, 2012 3:10 pm A benefit dinner is planned to help offset the medical expenses for the family of a long-time member of the law enforcement community, Don Lovelace. Lovelace died Monday after complications from heart surgery. He was a sergeant with the Tennessee Highway Patrol, a former sheriff’s deputy and former Chief of Police for the City of Greenfield. Lovelace was a veteran of the United States Army. Members of the law enforcement community have joined in an effort to help his family raise money through a benefit barbecue set for Saturday. Local police officers will fire up the grills preparing cajun-style chicken or barbecue plates with all the trimmings from 3 until 6 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church outside of Greenfield. Plates are $7. Tickets for the dinner can be purchased at police departments across the county and at the Weakley County Courthouse.
