Wreck claims woman from Hornbeak
A Hornbeak woman died Friday night when her vehicle ran off the road near Samburg and struck a utility pole.
Jennifer D. Jones, 39, a resident of Old Samburg Road near Hornbeak, died in a one-vehicle crash that occurred shortly before 11 p.m. in the area of Old Samburg Road and Highway 22.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol reported Ms. Jones was driving a 1995 Ford Ranger pickup and was headed westbound on Old Samburg Road when the vehicle hit a downgrade and curve. The pickup left the right side of the roadway and rolled over and the top of the truck struck a utility pole.
She was not wearing a seat belt.
No one else was involved in the crash and the THP reported that speed apparently was not a factor.
Among the agencies dispatched to the accident scene with the THP were the Obion County Rescue Squad, Obion County Sheriff’s Department and Samburg-Reelfoot Volun-teer Fire Department.
Funeral services for Ms. Jones were set for this afternoon at White-Ranson Funeral Home in Union City. (See related obituary, this page.)
Her death marks the eighth traffic fatality so far this year in Obion County. Seven of those crashes occurred in rural areas of Obion County and one was in the city limits of Union City. Published in The Messenger 3.26.12
