| TIPTONVILLE (AP) — A Lake County man is accused of having sex with minors while working as a sheriff’s deputy.
The State Gazette reports (http://bit.ly/GIvm3E) 33-year-old Mario Mont-gomery was taken into custody on Thursday by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.
Montgomery, who also is an alderman for the city of Tiptonville, resigned from his post with the sheriff’s office last week.
He is charged with sexual battery by an authority figure and sexual misconduct by an authority figure.
TBI spokesman Kristen Helm said the victims were female juveniles. The TBI has been investigating allegations against Montgomery for the past two weeks.
Jail officials said Friday Montgomery is free on a $25,000 bond. No number is listed for him in the telephone directory.
He is due in General Sessions Court today.
