Animal cruelty charged

A Union City woman was charged with animal cruelty for allegedly not providing proper food, water and shelter for her dogs.
Deborah Renee Lanham, 34, of 903 East Church St., Union City, was issued a citation charging her with cruelty to animals after police responded to her residence Tuesday, according to a Union City Police Department report.
An officer reported he observed three dogs that were not being fed or watered properly and he indicated he had been to the same address and given warnings several times in the past year.
The officer said he found rainwater in all the bowls and watched the dogs over a period of three days. One dog allegedly had not had a shelter for three days and had been outside for three days.
