Last Friday and Saturday, we celebrated St. Patrick’s Day by going green. We encouraged all to wear green and join in on the fun. We are also working on our nominations for Who’s Who of Nursing homes. If your family member has done something remarkable or noteworthy, please let us know.
Last week’s Cover Card winners were Ray Crowell, Blanche Bullock, Bobby Bynum, Mary Clark, Jane McKnight and Jerri Benderman. Each of these lucky players received $1 for the completion of their entire cards. For Thursday’s one-line bingo, all participants received 50 cents just for playing. We continue to have such wonderful supportive employees, visitors and residents that assist during these games.
The residents enjoyed a game of Price is Right Thursday morning. They had a variety of prizes to attempt to price and the one closest, without going over, won the item. The winners were Inez Spence, Linda Turner, Craig Moeller, Mary Clark and Gloria Woodley. For this month’s Men’s Hour, the gentleman gathered to play cards and answer trivia questions.
The sports challenges exercised all ranges of motion last week, giving participants a full-body workout by the end of the week. Hand Swatter and Kick Ball are non-competitive, but still great fun. Ray Crowell took first place honors at Velcro Ball, scoring 850 points. Bobby Bynum was the champion of Splat Ball, with 48 points. His runner-up, Vivian Loveless, was right behind him with 46 points.
Last week’s Social Hour featured fresh strawberries. The residents enjoyed their choice of strawberry shortcake, whole strawberries with fruit dip, or ice cream with strawberry topping. Some even had all. Everyone had a scrumptious good time.
Violet Totty and the Good Timers were with the residents Sunday afternoon. We are delighted to have them back with us since they always do a terrific job. Thank you so much.
Bible Union Baptist Church provided our Wednesday evening services for the residents. Dresden First Baptist Church and Macedonia Church of Christ conducted the Sunday morning services. We are so grateful to have such wonderful and supportive community churches willing to provide such terrific spiritual services. We also have continued support from Sharon Baptist Church by providing taped services of their religious services that we use in our facility. Oak Grove Baptist Church provided us with a special love offering that will be used for residents in need and special activity funding. We deeply appreciate all efforts each one of you make to better our facility. Published in The WCP 3.20.12
