A Troy man was arrested Wednesday for stalking after allegedly following two teenaged girls to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Northwest Tennessee on East College Street in Union City.
David C. Vanwormer, 43, of 2872 Possum Trot Road, Troy, was arrested at 8:41 p.m. in the 800 block of Greenwood Street in Union City and charged with stalking, according to a Union City Police Department report.
Police had responded about 7:45 p.m. to the club, where a 13-year-old girl and a 15-year-old girl alleged Vanwormer had followed them there.
According to the report, the 13-year-old told police that Vanwormer follows her every day and frequently asks to give her a ride. She alleged he parks his truck close to her house every day, waits for her to leave her house and follows her wherever she goes. She told police he is a stranger and she feels afraid of him.
Police reported the alleged stalking has been occurring since December 2011.
Vanwormer was arraigned Thursday on one count of stalking, with his next court appearance set for April 24 in Obion County General Sessions Court, and he was to be arraigned later today on a second count of stalking added by police after his initial arrest Wednesday, according to court paperwork.
