OC Fair board seeks artwork for cover | | Posted: Friday, March 23, 2012 9:12 pm
| If you’ve come up with a slogan you think would be perfect for the 54th annual Obion County Fair this year, file it away until another day. With a slogan already chosen from ones submitted in 2011, the Obion County Fair board has decided instead to have a catalog cover art competition for 2012. Two-dimensional media will be accepted, including paintings, drawings, collages, photographs, tapestry and computer generated art in vertical, horizontal or square formats. Entries should be no larger than 8 1⁄2-inches by 11-inches. The subject should be related to the Obion County Fair experience and should be suitable for use on the fair book cover, as well as on T-shirts, posters and in advertisements. Text regarding the Obion County Fair name, time and place should not be included in the art work. The cover designer will incorporate this information. Artists may sign their work. Entries should not be framed and slides will not be accepted. Each entry must be submitted with a completed, signed entry form. Collaborative efforts will be accepted; however, all collaborators must sign the release on the entry form. No entries will be returned. A qualified panel will select the winning entry. All decisions are final. The winning entry will become the property of the Obion County Fair Association Inc. The winning artist will receive a check for $50. Entries may be submitted by email to info@obioncountyfair.net; by mail at Obion County Fair, P.O. Box 126 Union City, TN 38261; or dropped off at the Obion County University of Tennessee Extension Office, located at 302 South Third St. in Union City. The deadline is April 20. The Obion County Fair Association plans to have a catalog cover art competition every year, a spokesman said. The next competition’s rules will be posted on the website. For more information, call Blake Laws at (731) 592-0621 or Jan Allison at (731) 796-0708. Published in The Messenger 3.23.12 | | | |
