New Salem FCE met recently at the home of Aileen Edwards with Pat Potter serving as co-hostess.
Fifteen members, with one new member, Sheryl Lyons, guest Betty Smith and agent Beverly Shelby, attended.
President Bettie Higgs welcomed the ladies and read the quote from “Voice of Health,” “Motivation when your dreams put on work clothes.”
Devotion leader Frances Clark shared a recently read book review of “Nursing Home,” written by Evangelist Billy Graham and led in prayer. Song leader Marjorie Simmons led the song, “I’m looking over a Four-Leaf Clover.” President Higgs recognized the March wedding anniversaries of Ruby Rogers, Kathy Simmons and Pat Potter and everyone sang, “happy anniversary” to them. All read together the club creed.
Secretary Ruby Rogers called the roll and each member answered by sharing a favorite gizmo or gadget that helped her complete her kitchen chores. She read the minutes and Sylvia Simmons gave the treasurer’s report. Each member had brought food items for WE CARE, a total of 101.
Reminders included the April 12 county council meeting to be held at 12 p.m. The group will have a light lunch before the meeting at 1:30. Janet Kleuck, of Dickson, will give a  program on parliamentary procedures. Everyone is to bring books for the Sharon library to the April meeting and also gift items for the state meeting gift shop in order for president Higgs to have them before March 19.
The group was pleased to have agent Shelby present and bring the program, “Spice up your life with herbs.” She gave good information on how to use herbs and spices to cut the sodium while enhancing recipes.
For adjournment, the president read the quote, “Always keep your words sweet in case you have to eat them.” — “Voice of Health.”
After recreation, March being the month of St. Patrick’s Day, the group enjoyed delicious refreshments served by the hostesses at tables, decorated in green.
Hostess for the April 4 meeting will be Marjorie Simmons. Published in The WCP 3.20.12
