We continue to have our Story Time each Thursday at 10:30am. This week’s Story Time was “Puss n Boots.” Peggy Prince continues to do a wonderful job each week with our story time and the children love participating in a project and snack following the story. I still want to remind you about our new circulation system, Agent Verso. This will allow our patrons who have internet access at home to create their own account, reserve books and be able to keep up with the books you have read. You can access our new system by logging on to: http://tenv-verso.autographics.com/iluminar/home.asp?lid=sharon. If you have any questions, please contact the library, we will be glad to help you. While you are there check out our new links, calendar of events and other things on our splash page. We have been very busy adding new materials and getting our system up and going. We have been moving things around to make room for our new titles stop by and check them out. The Book Buzz will meet again on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. Please stop by and share some of the books you have read and join our book club. Dr. Allen Stricklin, naturopathic will be at the library Friday at 10 a.m. to discuss “What You Need to Know About Natural Remedies”. He is also starting up a community food bank in Greenfield and has asked if everyone would donate a canned food item on this day. We are accepting recipes for the Weakley County Reading Railroad Cookbook. These cookbooks will sell for $12 each and that will sponsor one child for a year’s worth of books! Just think, you can share your favorite recipes with the public and also know that you are helping a child to read.
Check out our resources page on our website, then click on Learning Express and follow the link to job search and workplace skills. There are several prep tests available including the Compass Practice Test and how to create a resume. When you create your personal account it will let you store your resume in a PDF file that you can access anywhere there is an internet connection. While you are there also check out the READS for downloading EBooks and the World Book Encyclopedia. Remember, we are consistently adding new books and DVDs to our collection, stop by and check some out. Please remember to check out our website and Facebook for library program pictures and upcoming events. We are having a candle fundraiser for the library, stop by and check them out! We continue to take donations of paperback, hardcover books, DVDs and VHS tapes. The library continues to offer faxing and copying for a minimal fee. We also offer free paper shredding and free Wi-Fi. The library also has several different community items for sale, “The Last 100 Years of Sharon,” Sharon 1997 annuals and our Sharon afghans. Please stop by to check out our ongoing book sale, books are added weekly. Don’t forget about our recycling. We are taking ink jet cartridges, old cell phones and laser jet cartridges for recycling.
The City of Sharon also has a trailer set up for recycling. Please remember this is for paper, cardboard, electronics and aluminum only.
