Union City police made arrests for driving under the influence in two separate cases over the weekend.
Kelly A. Adam, 31, of 440 Iowa St., Paducah, Ky., was arrested Friday after police received a call of a reckless driver coming from Reelfoot Avenue and turning onto Miles Avenue.
The officer first observed the vehicle in the parking lot at the Woman’s Clinic on Bishop Street, but before he could stop and turn around, Ms. Adam allegedly turned east on Bishop Street and then north on Miles Avenue, causing oncoming traffic to have to avoid hitting the vehicle.
Once stopped, the officer noticed Ms. Adam was very nervous. He asked her to step out of the vehicle and to try several field sobriety tests. She tried to perform the tests, but refused a blood test in the emergency room at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City. She was charged with DUI second offense and violation of the implied consent law.
Mark Stacey Cobb, 46, of 582 East College St., Jackson, was charged with DUI fifth offense and violation of the implied consent law when he was stopped in the 1500 block of East Reelfoot Avenue after the Union City police received two different complaints of a reckless driver.
The officer reported Cobb appeared unsteady on his feet, admitted to drinking and refused to perform sobriety tests.
