Bob Lasater, 88, of Union City went home to be with the Lord at 4:25 p.m. March 16, 2012, at Union City Manor Nursing Home.
Services were 4 p.m. Sunday at Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home, with the Rev. Eddie Mallonee officiating.
Burial followed in Obion County Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers were Marty Lannom, Larry Vernon, Dr. Kirk Stone, J.B. Murphy Jr., David Harmon and Dan Waddell.
Honorarary pallbearers were Brad Boucher, Troy Arnold, Daniel Taylor, Jerry Duncan, Jarrod Ulen, Brian Burcham, David Fortson, Randy Roberson, Danny Jones, Danny Ervin, Bo Ryder and Brent Carr.
The family requests memorials be made to Second Baptist Church building fund or benevolence fund, 831 North Everett Blvd., Union City, TN 38261.
He was born May 20, 1923, in Lake County, son of the late William Marvin and Verdie Helen (Crocker) Lasater.
He was a self-employed piano tuner and had served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
A member of Union City Second Baptist Church, he had served as the church organist for 54 years and had been a deacon, a men’s Sunday school teacher and a volunteer in the nursing home ministry for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Bettye (Johnson) Lasater, whom he married June 3, 1956; his son, Kevin Lasater of Union City; his daughter, Lynnette Lasater of Atlanta; and two sisters, Wilma Weaver of Union City and Thelma Allen of Savannah.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Delmar Lasater and Omer Burress; and three sisters, Lennie Jimmerson, Mildred Matheney and Aletha Evanson.
