Power outages explained Posted: Friday, March 16, 2012 12:16 pm The Messenger, March 16, 2012 About 400 Gibson Electric Membership Corp. members’ homes and businesses in north Obion County — along and in the vicinity of Highway West 22, or Lake Road — were affected by a power outage Thursday evening. The outage occurred at 5:53 p.m. when a tractor struck a guy wire, causing a line to snap. Crews were immediately dispatched and restored service at 6:29 p.m., according to Rita Alexander, GEMC’s vice president of human resources and communications. This morning, about 1,100 GEMC members’ homes and businesses in Troy and Hornbeak — along and in the vicinity of Highway 22 West to Walnut Log — were affected by an outage. It began at 6:13 a.m. and was storm-related. Crews were immediately dispatched and restored power to about 360 of the homes at 7:20 a.m. and to the remainder at 8:12 a.m. “We are sorry for the inconvenience,” Ms. Alexander said. |
