The 20th Century Club met recently at Weldon Library with Joy Adams calling the meeting to order.
She asked about the club members doing a study on cancer. She has become an advocate in the cancer society. This is for 30-65 year-old people who haven’t had cancer.
The secretary’s report was accepted. There were 15 present. The members were led in the collect by Adams.
The club wished Edna well, as she recovers from the bruises received in her accident.
Members then listened as Joyce Whiteside introduced Lisa Smartt, who we know from her columns in local newspapers.
Smartt gave the group a wonderful afternoon as she talked about us “living in the culture of discontentment.” She quote, Phillipians 4:11-12, “We need peace in our world, finding contentment.” She told us life is about others. The club thanks Lisa Smartt for telling of your her life experiences and about her family.
The members were dismissed to get outside and enjoy a beautiful spring afternoon.
