UTM to host music

The University of Tennessee at Martin Department of Music faculty will present a concert of new music at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in Watkins Auditorium on the UT Martin campus.
The concert will be comprised of instrumental works and will feature world premiere performances.
“Sonata for Trumpet and Piano” by Wayne Lu will be performed by Kurt Gorman, associate professor of music, on the trumpet and Delana Easley, lecturer of music, on piano. The work was commissioned by Gorman in 2008.
“Postcards from D.C.” by Bradford Blackburn will be performed by Matthew Stratton, instructor of music, and “Settings of Robert Frost” by Scott Roberts, professor of music, will be performed by Gorman, Hill and Roberts.
The event will include performances by Johnathan Vest, assistant professor of music; Doug Owens, assistant professor of music; and Jessie Thoman, assistant professor of music.
A pre-concert lecture will also be held at 6:30 in Watkins Auditorium, where the composers will address the audience and take questions via Skype.
