GATLINBURG (AP) — Up to 4,000 bridge players from around the world are expected in the Smoky Mountains resort town of Gatlinburg for a tournament April 16-22.
The annual Smoky Mountain Mid-Atlantic Bridge Conference Regional consistently draws more than 9,000 tables of bridge during the seven days. Tourney co-chairman Pete Misslin said it’s been the largest regional tourney in the country since the early 1990s.
Included in this year’s schedule of events is a junior bridge workshop where players can learn how to start bridge games with youth in their communities.
The tourney is sanctioned by the American Contract Bridge League. Many players stay for the duration of the tourney, helping the local economy greatly.
