The Lady Yellowjackets’ tennis team posted an impressive 6-1 win over Henry County at the UT Martin tennis courts on Monday afternoon. The season-opener for Greenfield saw the ‘Jackets win the top four singles spots and sweep doubles play. Greenfield found itself in a battle up and down the ladder, including a 9-8 win in a tiebreaker by Lauren Rush over Maci Piggot at the No. 3 seed. Taylor Hatcher downed Kayla Hargrace 8-4 at the top seed, while Callie Croom fought off Taylor Deaton 8-6 at the fourth spot. Kalee Keterson had a relatively easy day, posting an 8-1 win over Olivia Maupin at No. 2 in singles, and then Hatcher and Croom put up an 8-2 verdict over Hargrace and Maci Piggot at the No. 1 doubles spot. Kesterson and Rush won 8-4 at the second spot in doubles. Now 1-0, Greenfield is back on the home courts at UTM this afternoon against Milan. Matches begin at 4 p.m. ——— Singles Taylor Hatcher (G) d.
