UTM hosting party for NCAA selection

The University of Tennessee at Martin women’s basketball team will host an NCAA Tournament Selection Show party beginning at 5:30 p.m. Monday in the Duncan Ballroom of the Boling University Center.
Fans will get a chance to meet the Skyhawk coaching staff and players and watch the NCAA Selection Show live on ESPN.
Once the Skyhawks find out whom and where they will play in the first round of the NCAA Tournament beginning on March 17, head coach Kevin McMillan will share his thoughts on the draw.
Championship T-shirts will be for sale at the selection show party.
The Skyhawks, who lead the nation in scoring (81.1 ppg) and assist to turnover ratio, defeated Tennessee Tech this past Saturday at Municipal Auditorium to win the second consecutive Ohio Valley Conference Tournament and claim the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
The Skyhawks are ranked second in the nation in 3-point field goals per game (10.4); third in the nation in 3-point field-goal percentage (38.9); and least turnovers per game (12.5).
The Skyhawks are 23-8 on the year and finished with a 15-1 OVC worksheet.
Sophomore Jasmine Newsome was named the OVC Player of the Year, while Heather Butler was named the OVC Tournament’s Most Valuable Player. Both Newsome and Butler have scored their 1,000th career points this season.
