March is Northwest Tennessee Disaster Services’ Practice and Prepare Month. An educational program provided by the organization is designed to teach elementary school children five ways to prepare for a disaster. After attending the session, students will be asked to take a referral form home with them and have family members sign-off on the form as a way of affirming the student has shared at least three ways to prepare for a disaster.
The school with the most referrals will have the chance to meet a WPSD-TV meteorologist. Plaques will be awarded to each school, with first through third places noted.
Schools in Obion, Weakley and Lake counties may arrange for visits from the NTDS staff by calling 592-3947 or going to firstname.lastname@example.org.
