MURFREESBORO — Obion Central will play for the Class 2A girls’ state championship on Saturday after beating Stone Memorial 56-47 in the semifinals today.

The third-ranked Lady Rebels — with a school-record 35 victories — will be matched up against Christ Presbyterian Academy Saturday at 2 p.m., after the unranked Lady Lions knocked off No. 1 Livingston Academy 49-31 in today’s first semi.

Brandi Goodman added to her long list of double-doubles with 26 points and 11 rebounds despite again battling foul trouble, and the Lady Rebels survived against SM without their A-game.

No other Obion Central player other than Goodman scored in double figures.

Central did save its best offensive effort for crunch time though, running off 11 unanswered points over a three-minute fourth-quarter span after Stone Memorial had clawed its way within 43-40 with 4:25 to go.

Goodman converted a 3-point play underneath, Macy Wright had a driving bucket, and both Paige Hicks and Shannon Wiggins also scored during the stretch.

Obion Central missed its first five shots and turned the ball over four times in the opening three minutes to help dig itself a 9-0 hole as Stone Memorial made its first three field goal attempts.

Ali McEwen’s seven first-quarter points — a 3-pointer with 22 seconds left included — got OC right back into the contest at 15-13 after one, though.

The Lady Rebels took the lead for good on Goodman’s 3-point play with just over three minutes gone in the second period.
