A Union City man was charged with assault Wednesday after allegedly threatening another man with a knife.
Clayton R. Roberson, 32, of 416 South Division St., Union City, was arrested at 4:40 p.m. Wednesday in the 300 block of East Bransford Street and charged with aggravated assault, according to a Union City Police Department report.
Police had responded a few minutes earlier to the 400 block of East Jackson Street in reference to an alleged assault. The victim, Steve Taylor, 36, of Union City, told police he approached Roberson in reference to some money Roberson owed him. He alleged that when he asked Roberson when he would pay him, Roberson approached his vehicle, put a knife through the window and said he’d pay him when he felt like it, according to the report.
Police stopped Roberson while he was walking in the area of East Bransford and Rose streets. An officer reported he found a small chrome pocketknife in Roberson’s jeans pocket and Taylor identified it as the knife he saw earlier, resulting in Roberson’s arrest.
