Program offered through UTM

A comprehensive, 50-hour EKG technician certification program will be offered through the University of Tennessee at Martin Office of Extended Campus and Online Studies.
The course is scheduled for 6-9:30 p.m., Mondays and Wednesdays, March 19-May 7 on the UT Martin main campus.
The program will include important practice and background information on the anatomy of the heart, basic physiology, medical disease processes, laboratory assisting, electrocardiography and echocardiography.
Students will also cover medical terminology, ethics and the legal aspects of patient contact.
Students will practice with equipment and participate in hands-on labs, including the proper use and function of the EKG machine, 12-lead placement and other clinical procedures.
The course will prepare students to take the American Society of Phlebotomy Technician-Electrocardiograph Technician exam and other national certification exams.
The registration fee is $999 per student and includes all textbooks and supplies.
