The Third Review Club met recently at the home of Joyce Stephens.
The meeting was called to order by president Mary Dunavant.
“Know ye that the Lord, He is God. It is he that has made us and not we our ourselves,” was the scriptural thought for the day, given by Bernice Shore.
Roll call was answered by members naming of their favorite hobby. The sunshine report was given by Lenora Stephenson.
A brief business meeting was held after which Lindy Dunavant announced the March 9 meeting would be held at the family life center at First Baptist Church at 1:30 p.m. Ann Stone will serve as hostess for the event and Mary Lois Owens will present a program on hummingbirds. The meeting was then adjourned.
Beverly Terrell gave a program on gardening. She told the group that she derived her early interest from her parents, who were avid gardeners in Fulton. She shared information on the historic origin of many plants and trees, as well as pruning and planting suggestions. She has planted a variety of trees at her home and has selectively chosen which to keep as her yard develops. She said her yard is her own creative plan and is constantly evolving. She has a large collection of carefully collected ferns underneath the canopy of trees in her backyard. She is particularly fond of begonias and has a large variety of herbs.
Mrs. Terrell gave each member a package of Hyacinth bean seeds, along with careful instructions of how and when to cultivate the sweet smelling vine. She is already planning and preparing for the arrival of spring.
Hostess Joyce Stephens served in a Valentine theme with red velvet cake, nuts, heart-shaped candies and coffee.
