Completed arrangements are being announced for Ralph Edward Covey, 84, of Troy, who died 12:10 a.m. March 1, 2012, at his home.
Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home. Jeff Bell and Kevin Thomason will officiate. Burial will follow in Cobbs Chapel Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home 5- 8 p.m. Saturday.
Pallbearers will be Ray Covey, Matt Covey, Mark McBride, Gary McBride, Donnie Hutchison, Ronnie Hutchison and Bobby Hutchison. Honorary pallbearers will be Ed Wells, J.C. Thomas, J.R. Smith, Jimmy Smith, Roy Wiley and Tommy Reedy.
He was born April 8, 1927, in Obion County, son of the late Everett May and Hite (Huffstutter) Covey. He married the former Peggy McBride Sept. 21, 1952. She survives. He was a retired mechanic for the former T&S Ford in Obion and the former Blackley Chevrolet in Hornbeak. He was a member of Bishop Street Church of Christ in Union City.
He is also survived by his son and daughter-in-law, John and Debbie Covey of St. Joseph; two grandchildren and their spouses, Chris and Jodi Covey of Central, Ala., and Melinda and Richie Burlison of Loretta; three great-granddaughters, Elizabeth Covey of Central and Georgia Burlison and Charlotte Burlison, both of Loretta; his brother and sister-in-law, Leonard and Ruth Covey of Longview, Texas; his aunt, Hannah Smith of Hornbeak; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
