Former Martin alderman passes at 72

An attorney and former City of Martin alderman has died at the age 72.
Bob Brandon was a former alderman for the City of Martin and served for a number of years on the board of directors for City State Bank.
Brandon retired as director of Northwest Tennessee Development District. The attorney was well-remembered for serving on the Tennessee Constitutional Convention in 1970 which equalized property taxes between farmers and home-owners.
Brandon died Monday at Volunteer Community Hospital. Friends and family members can bid farewell beginning at 11 a.m. today (Thursday) at First United Methodist Church in Martin. Funeral services are planned for 2 p.m. today at the church, with a burial to follow in East Side Cemetery. Brandon leaves behind a daughter, Lee Mesimer and three grandchildren. WCP 3.01.12
