Update: Winterfest Pageant re-located, still Saturday

Due to the overwhelming response by community members, the first-ever Historic Downtown Martin Winterfest Pageant event presented by Community Pageants by Dana has been re-located.
The series of pageants will still take place Saturday, but due to space contraints, it will be hosted at the Martin Middle School, located on Stella Ruth Road in Martin.
Coordinator Dana Brown is overwhelmed at the support for this year’s event and said she appreciates everyone’s patience and understanding with the venue change.
Doors will open at 11 a.m. and pageants begin at noon.
There are a variety of age divisions in this year’s Winterfest Pageant.
Age divisions include:
• Boys – 0 to 6 years old (two kings will be crowned, one in the zero months to three years category and one in the 4 to 6 years category;
• Girls – 0 to 11 months; 12-12 months; 2-3 years; 4-5 years; 6-8 years; 9-12 years; 13-15 years and 16-21 years.
A king/queen and three alternates will be chosen in each age division. Kings/queens will receive a sparkling crown, trophy and banner. Alternates will receive a trophy. Contestants not placing in the royalty will receive a medallion.
Side categories include: Prettiest Hair, Prettiest Eyes and Prettiest Smile and winners in each age division will receive a trophy. Contestants must enter the categories to win.
Sunday best or pageant attire can be worn for the Winterfest Pageant.
Contestants may collect Sponsor Good Luck Wishes to pay entry fees and earn extra prizes. Donations must be turned in by Saturday to ensure prizes are available by pageant day.
With the collection of $55 in entry fees, the contestant will receive a crown. For $100, contestants will receive a crown, a three-foot trophy and winter flowers. For $200 in entry fees, contestants will receive a crown, a five-foot trophy, scepter, sash pin, sash and winter flowers.
All contestants who pre-pay by Saturday will receive a crown.
Entry fees for the Beauty category is $35 and $5 for each additional category. To enter all categories, the fee is $40.
Special guests that day include Shane Conner from WYN 106.9 and local royalty, along with Little Miss Perfect guest star Kaylee Tims.
A professional photographer will be available to take portraits.

One parent is admitted free with each contestant. Admission is $2 per adult and $1 for children.
Proceeds from the event benefit future Historic Downtown Martin activities as well as the future Sculpture Soundscape to be located next to the gazebo in downtown Martin.
