NAME THAT CAMP – Martin Middle School eighth-grader Collin Stricklin received a cash award on Thursday morning from Dr. Beth Quick of the University of Tennessee at Martin’s Department of Educational Studies. Stricklin won the award through a contest in which he came up with the name “Stimulation Camp” for the weeklong event being held at the university this summer. The camp will be held from June 18-22 and is for rising sixth, seventh and eighth grade students in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. The purpose of the camp will be to help students explore different concepts in those subject areas. On hand for acceptance of the award were (from left) MMS principal Nate Holmes, seventh and eighth grade science teacher Angela Farlow, Stricklin and Quick.
