|Haislip takes honor |
for top-seed Skyhawks
Jaclissa Haislip, a sophomore guard on the UT Martin women’s basketball team, has been named the adidas Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week for her efforts this past week against Austin Peay and Jacksonville State.
Haislip, from Murfreesboro, recorded back-to-back double-doubles to lead UT Martin to a pair of wins. She had 20 points and 12 rebounds in the win versus Austin Peay. She followed that up with 14 points and 12 boards against Jacksonville State. She has four double-doubles this season and nine for her career.
This is the first time Haislip has been named the OVC Player of the Week this season.
Haislip is averaging 9.9 points and 6.1 rebounds per game. She has made 119 3-pointers in her career, the fourth best in UT Martin history.
Haislip and the Skyhawks finished the regular season with a 15-1 OVC record and a 21-8 overall worksheet. The Skyhawks earned the No. 1 seed in the OVC Tournament and will play in the semifinals at noon on Friday. Published in The Messenger 2.28.12
